New furniture

So, I'm currently in Spain - hopefully enjoying the classic combination of sun, sea, and well - let's face it - probably Scooby Doo!!

However, by the magic of technology I can write this to let you know about my supremely exciting recent purchases. My mum has a very good eye and love of antiques so I spent a fair chunk of my childhood trawling junk shops and auctions learning the basics of what to look for. This has paid off since I have inherited that same love of beautifully crafted furniture. Too long have I put up with flat-pack, substandard furniture which does not last and let's face it - isn't very pretty!!

With our impending move creeping ever closer we realised there were some bits we were going to need and so I set about scowering Gumtree, EBay and charity shops. Well, I think I came up trumps and we are thrilled with the pieces we found. They will need a nice clean but other than that everything's in good order and I'm pretty happy that we got a good deal plus I got delivery thrown in - bonus!!

A pair of beautiful oak chairs. These are so comfy as the curve hugs your back nicely. I will definitely be recovering the seats as soon as possible - nothing wrong with the fabric, just not to my taste.

A lovely, solid table which will go in our new office. We will have to fight it out as to weather this becomes a sewing/craft station for me or a a sleek workspace for Alex. This one isn't particularly pretty but it is good quality wood and it just feels nice.

This is delightful to me, and will polish up beautifully. It's on casters which is so handy and I can already think of a million uses for it.

I fell in love with this straight away, gorgeous art nouveau handles and nice big, proper drawers - we'll fit loads in here. I know exactly where it's going to go and what pretty things will sit on top of it.

Saving the best for last ----- this stunning 1940s dresser. Solid, quality wood and craftsmanship, pleasing design. The drawers are deep and there is so much space in the cupboards....I simply cannot wait to arrange all my pretty china on the shelves - just think how gorgeous it will look! I've always wanted a dresser and this is like a dream to me. As you can see it needs a little TLC and a bloody good dusting but I'm very excited to play with my new toy and very much look forward to showing her to you once she's all "dressed" up ;)

There we are then, it feels a bit weird to show off things which I have bought in this way but I love to share pretty things. So until I get back from Spain it will be pretty quiet around here since I don't think I'll have much internet access. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up to date with my Twitter and Instagram so do check in with those for updates. Have a brilliant  few days everyone.
